New Favorite Indicator – Ichimoku Kinko Hyo

Ichimoku Kinko Hyo is a mouthful to pronounce and even harder to read. Funny story is that I had always wanted to try and make sense of it and then in true Law of Attraction fashion a Forex Webinar Presenter mentioned that he likes trading with the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo during the Asian Session as Asian Traders are more likely to use it, hence you’re able to trade with the flow so to speak.

Talk about 6 degrees of separation… Days later I received an instant message on a Forex Forum from “Schurli”, an Austrian Name… so of course the good Austrian Export that I am I struck up a conversation and Schurli mentioned a website by a fellow in Nuremberg, which coincidentally is where my other half of the family is from, and wouldn’t you know it… the Bavarian Trader “Der Forex Millionaer” had a video on the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Indicator and explained it beautifully.

Ever since the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Indicator is my all-time favorite!

What’s so special about Ichimoku Kinko Hyo?

“Ichimoku” is Japanese for “one look” and true enough this indicator is all one really needs. “Kinko” translates into “equilibrium” or “balance” and “Hyo” means chart. All together it means “a glance at an equilibrium chart”.

It is overwhelming at first but once you understand it, Ichimoku Kinko Hyo will likely be your favorite Forex Indicator too.

In a nutshell, Ichimoku Kinko Hyo gauges momentum and support and resistance “clouds”.

Note that in the English video the Chikou Span (Green Line) is discarded, however it is a key indicator to determine the trend and strength. If the green line is above the candle sticks then the trend is bullish, same goes for the cloud at the green line. If the green line is below the candle sticks then the trend is bearish, same goes for the cloud at the green line. There is a book by Nick Elliott on the Ichimoku Indicator that I’m trying to find, it apparently does a really good job at explaining this indicator in detail.
